A Day in the Life of a New Bulgarian

                                                                  Miladinovtsi

Well its another lovely day in Bulgaria.  It is cooler in the mornings and gets cooler once the sun goes down in the evenings but its been warm enough (25 +) to leave the back door open and enjoy the beautiful sunshine.  Just as well as I haven't got half the jobs I need to do finished before the joys of the outdoors pales when the weather gets really cool!

Today I had to nip into Yambol (around 20kms from my village), although the village is fine for day to day things a trip into Yambol is a regular weekly feature to do my big shop and other errands for things not available or difficult to find locally.  Today's shopping included tiles for my kitchen, tv into repair shop (it got 'fried' in the last round of electrical storms as it wasn't unplugged or on a surge plug when the storm hit), weekly shop at Kaufland supermarket (there are a few in Yambol - Kaufland, Lidl & Vilton being the main ones), a trip to my favourite butcher's shop for pork chops for tea and bones for the dogs (yes, you can still get dog bones very cheaply here) and I paid my mobile phone bill as well 4.99 lev, around £2 (I am with a local provider, Bob, who give a good, uncomplicated, reliable and cheap service).

I went into Yambol with a friend, we often do the car sharing thing here, and then went to his place for lunch.  Stuart is a trained chef and soon to open a hotel with bar & restaurant in Miladinovtsi so lunch was great lol!

One of the local farmers popped in for a chat while I was there so the afternoon just drifted away drinking coffee and chatting with friends.

The couple that I showed round my rental properties yesterday were really lovely and decided they wanted to rent my house in Malomir once they move over from Turkey in early Spring.  There seems to be loads of Brits leaving Turkey and coming here at the minute, not quite sure why.  I have another couple viewing on sunday or monday again from Turkey so fingers crossed they like one of the others!

We all ended up in the bar last night with a few other friends from the village, had a few beers and swapped life stories.  A lovely, relaxed evening was had by all - don't I just love the lifestyle here lol!
